Quality Assurance Program

The Siding Specialists, Inc. goal for quality assurance is to provide the highest quality installed product while expediting the procedure in an efficient and cooperative manner. We hope to facilitate the client’s expectations of TSSI and in the process educate the client on pre-wrap procedures and meeting manufacturer’s siding installation requirements.

Step 1:

Material handling includes the following check list of items when TSSI is supplying and handling materials.

  • Ordering & Updating material lists
  • Verifying Inventory supply of vendor(s) and/or suppliers
  • Schedule deliveries
  • Inspect all materials for new and high quality standards
  • Double check availability and delivery

Step 2:

Pre wrap preparation includes the following check list items:

  • Check framing prior to sider’s arrival
  • Any insufficient framing to be brought to Client’s attention in writing and must be addressed prior to pre-wrap preparation
  • Confirm exterior shear wall and strap inspections have been passed
  • Straight edging by framer completed
  • Check for any safety hazards and address prior to arrival of TSSI siding crews
  • Doors, windows, sliders, vents, sheet metal installed and penetrations for pipes completed

On completion of all items in this step, a request for all materials to be ordered would be issued to the Owner/Builder or Framer. If TSSI was to handle materials they would be ordered at this time, and siding crews are now scheduled to arrive and commence work.

Step 3:

The envelope is a pivotal point in the construction process, both for the construction draws and enclosing the building to the weather. The enveloping of the building includes the following check list items:

  • Apply water resistant membrane (such as 60 min. black paper, Tyvek™, Typar™, VaproShield, etc) per plan to envelope building.
  • Integrate water proofing (i.e. Bithuthane, peel and stick water proofing membrane) at windows and openings where plans require.
  • Install Z flash at windows, doors, bands, and openings as required per plans integrated the water resistant and water proofing system.
  • CImplementing and enforcing Cal-OSHA and Nev-OSHA safety requirements for all TSSI siding crews.

Step 4:

Once the membrane system is applied and carefully inspected, the trim and siding installation will commence. This includes the following check list items:

  • Install straight, true trim per plan. Any materials not of highest quality if supplied by others will be brought to the Builders attention. TSSI will only use materials of highest quality.
  • Nailing compliance checked.
  • All trim to be flushed and shimmed when necessary
  • Siding elevation to be lined and level
  • Siding to be gapped accordingly, to receive sealant or caulk. Gap to be 1/8’ at trim to siding.
  • Nails supplied by TSSI when handling materials will be hot dipped galvanized nails. These are suggested for all siding and trim applications.
  • Sealant used should be of highest quality.
  • All scaffold will meet Cal-OSHA and Nev-OSHA requirements.
  • All debris to be cleaned up and piled in designated area on a daily basis.
  • Excess usable materials to be stacked neatly at site.

Step 5:

A follow up walk of the siding will be administered upon completion by a TSSI Field Superintendent and General Superintendent of project. Any punch list items to be addressed at this time and completed within 48 hours.

TSSI will make two more scheduled follow up walks; One after paint, to address any sealant shrinkage, grader hits, etc. and the second and final walk with General Superintendent or Owner/Builder prior to Homeowner occupancy. TSSI is proud to serve our clients and believes our work ethics and customer service will provide the highest quality of workmanship available.

Please note if you have any suggestions for improvement of our Quality Assurance Program, we would appreciate your input. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Tim Dick
